Home to the coatimundi and the Baca Float Ranch before it became Rio Rico. The community is in south central Arizona, about fifty-six miles south of Tucson. Rio Rico is an unincorporated community and a census-designated place (CDP) in Santa Cruz County, Arizona. The community is nestled in the Santa Cruz River Valley at an elevation of 3,451 feet above sea level. Rio Rico is bordered on the east by San Cayetano Mountains and the Tumacacori Mountains and Atascosa Mountains which lie across the range to the west. 82% of residents who live in the community of Rio Rico own their homes while 18% of the locals rent. The median home age in the Rio Rico community is 25 years.
