Home to the Mission San Jose de Tumacacori and the Tumacácori National Historical Park. "Tumacácori' is from a Native American name for "place where the wild chiles are gathered." It's no wonder why the Santa Cruz Chile & Spice is right across the mission! Tumacacori is in south central Arizona,
about fifty miles south of Tucson. Tumacacori is an unincorporated community and is
considered a census-designated place (CDP) in Santa Cruz County, Arizona. The
community is nestled in the Santa Cruz River Valley at an elevation of 3,209
feet above sea level. Tumacácori is bordered by Santa Rita Mountains to the east and
the Tumacácori Mountains lie across the range to the west. Mostly of residents who
live in the community of Tumacacori own their homes. The median home age in the Tumacacori community is 51 years.
