For those looking for a quick fix of a winter evening, it may help to know that there is a National Margarita Day. Although there seems to be some discrepancy about where and when the margarita originated, this just makes for a better story.

Whatever the story may be, the margarita is a tastey cocktail all the same. it consists of ½ ounces of tequila, 1 ounce of Cointreau or Triple Sec, ½ ounce of lime juice and a lime wedge or garnish.

Americans consume about 185,000 margarita cocktails per hour, according to Tequila Herradura, a tequila producer. That truly is amazing, considering that America is said to be the largest market for tequila, beating out its birthplace, Mexico.
