Here are ten tips from the Arizona Register of Contractors for you to keep in mind before you hire anyone to work around your house.

 

  1. Make sure your contractor is licensed.
  2. Ask for references.
  3. Plan you project carefully and make detail plans if necessary.
  4. Get at least 3 detailed, written bids.
  5. Ask what problems may come up during project.
  6. Get a written contract.
  7. Make sure you understand the terms of the contract before signing.
  8. Be cautious before advancing monies for work not yet completed.
  9. Put all changes in writing.
  10. Make frequent inspections.
